Five great tracks to help you kickstart your weekend
This week in London has been very freezing and colds have been flying around the office faster than you can say 'Bless you'. Not to fear though, we have stocked up on Lemsips and Kleenex and are as keen as ever. Atchooo!

As I write this post looking out the office window the sun in shining and the skies are blue. Of course, it's only February and the wind is still bitterly cold, but as I sit at my desk I can almost be tricked into thinking that Spring has come early.
Hopefully it will stay this way all weekend, fingers crosses.

So that snow that I was talking about last week did fall, and it brought freezing cold temperatures with it. Great for people planning on skiing, rubbish for those of us just trying to get around London. Ah well, any excuse to wrap up in a big cosy blanket, drink some wine and make my way through a handful of movies.

So, apparently it's going to snow this weekend - it certainly feels like it might. London is so cold at the moment that it's not even fun being outside so this is definitely a weekend to stay wrapped up warm inside.

Tonight, as part of Jerome's Christmas present from me, we are going to watch Uncle Vanya. There are a few bigs names in it including Anne Friel and Laura Carmichael (a.k.a Edith from Downton Abbey) so it should be a good evening, plus we are very tempted to kick it all off with a trip to Meat Market... mmm... Dead Hippy...
This week's Tracks on Loop is a retrospective of some of my favourite tracks featured on the blog in 2012.

It's that time of year where suddenly everything seems to kick-up a gear, and all those 'last-minute' Christmas preparations go flying out the window because you have way more important things to do, like go to parties and eat 'til you keel over.

Christmas season here in the UK has officially begun. The supermarkets are blasting out festive songs from the 80s and the shops are piled wall to wall with gifts, trinkets and wrapping paper. We already have most of our gifts sorted, there are a few last minute homemade things that we have to wait until making but mostly we're sorted.
This means that we can now sit back, relax, and smirk smugly at all the last-minute shoppers running around like headless chickens, ahhhh, Christmas.

This year we are celebrating Pakjes Avond a weekend early again (it's a kind of St. Nicholas secret santa family tradition). Last year I had to buy a gift for my uncle and made this Christmas Survival Kit, this year, well, I can't say who I am buying for - that would be cheating - but I can tell you that I am very excited about giving my gift and I'll share it with you next week when the cat is out the bag.

This weekend marks the opening of London's biggest Christmas market, the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. It's incredibly cheesy but being the big kids that we are Jerome and I love it.
So this weekend will more than likely be spend munching on turkey drumsticks, sipping mulled wine and wasting all our money on fair games.

This weekend we have quite a few things planned. Tonight we are having homemade pizzas and then heading out into Camden for drinks. Tomorrow we have dinner with friends and the day will be spent either mooching around Ikea or at the Ideal Home Show. I'm not hugely fussed about the show, but I won tickets, and if there is one rule that I follow in life, it's never say no to free tickets.

This weekend in London the is the Salon QP, an exhibition of high-end watches and boutique British watch brands. We have been going since we arrived in the UK and thoroughly enjoy it so if you're into watches then make sure you head on over. There is nothing better than to finally get some facetime with a watch that you have been ogling over in the press.
Then on Saturday it's the Lord Mayor's festival, which normally means a parade and fireworks. This year though, after enormous firework displays for the Jubilee and then the Olympics they have decided to hold off, which means that I have officially missed every firework display this year in London. Ah well, nothing that a dinner with some good friends and a few bottles of wine won't fix!

This weekend is the closest weekend to the 5th November, which means that it's Bonfire Night here in the UK, yay! Although ridiculously barbaric when you stop to think about it, I absolutely love bonfire night. One thing I would say though is that this is not a weekend that London does well, it is much more of a village fete than a big town kind of affair so if you are in London this weekend, my advice would be to escape to a nearby hamlet to experience Guy Fawkes night in all it's gory glory.
Sparklers, toffee apples and fireworks, what's not to love?

This weekend there is a very interesting event here in London all about 3d Printing, called - ahem - the 3D Printshow. There are still tickets available for tomorrow so if you're about London are like that kind of thing then it's well worth checking out.

This weekend we have some friends visiting us who have never been to London before. It's great to have the opportunity to go around all the tourist spots again and remind ourselves that we actually live here. We are of course going to throw in a few non-touristy extras like the Bedlam show over at the old vic tunnels and a pub lunch at our local.

This weekend in London is looking set to be a rainy one, which means that we need to find some fun indoor activities to do. Sunday is sorted, we have a great brunch with friends to celebrate the Swedish Cinnamon Bun Day (it's a thing - awesome, huh?). For Saturday, I was thinking of heading over to the Grant Museum of Zoology, which is finally open on Saturdays and then taking shelter in a nearby pub for some hearty British pub grub.

This weekend in London I am donning my sailor's hat and heading out to what looks set to be an amazing party - Shore Leave - in my favourite venue in London, the Old Vic Tunnels. If you've never been then you really should, why not come and join us for a night of maritime fun?

This weekend in London is Open House Weekend. Open House is amazing, it's basically when a whole bunch of private or paying venues open their doors to the public and you can go on tours and visit them. Some need to be booked before hand but if you have no bookings then never fear, there is still a whole heap of venues that you can visit just by turning up on the day. Check out their website for more details.
Tonight I'm off to watch Labrinth at the iTunes festival and I'm really looking forward to it. I've already been to see Deadmau5 and Pink and have loads more concerts still to come. Other than that, no big plans for the weekend. Just kicking back and relaxing in London Taaaawn.
This weekend I'm heading down to the town where I grew up to help my Dad with some DIY on a new house that he is doing up. It should be fun, I haven't been back in years so I'm looking forward to seeing what has changed.
Then from Sunday, it's gig central. This month is the iTunes festival and so far I have won tickets to see Deadmau5, Labrinth, Jessie J, Biffy Clyro, Robert Glasper, Mumford & Sons and Lana Del Ray. Not only do we get to see all these concerts, but there are also some pretty great support acts. So this week's tracks is taken from some of the bands we'll be seeing.
